Why is that? Well as those of us in California can attest, the weather has been cold, windy, and wet during a time when it's "normally not like this". All this to be said, I'll be leading this week's almond bloom update with...drum roll, please... [Weather](https://app.bountiful.ag/agriculture/weather)! [![Orchard in Central Region, west-side on March 13, 2023](https://blog.bountiful.ag/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0500.jpg?width=2016&height=1512&name=IMG_0500.jpg)](http://bountifulalmonds.com) The atmospheric river event over California, [funnily named Pineapple Express](https://www.axios.com/2023/03/09/pineapple-express-storm-california), hit California last week bringing [1-2 inches of precipitation](https://app.bountiful.ag/agriculture/weather) to North, Central, and South almond growing regions. Below you'll see a summary of [California Precipitation](https://app.bountiful.ag/agriculture/weather) over the last week.  [![https://app.bountiful.ag/agriculture/weather/](https://blog.bountiful.ag/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202023-03-13%20at%202.54.26%20PM.png?width=1128&height=694&name=Screenshot%202023-03-13%20at%202.54.26%20PM.png)](https://app.bountiful.ag/agriculture/weather/precipitation) The rain also produced some hail events, over the weekend, as reported by folks on social media in the Central and South almond-growing regions. Following the rain, warmer temperatures highs ranging from 71-69 degrees Fahrenheit. Below you'll see the [average Temperature over last week for almond-growing regions in California](https://app.bountiful.ag/agriculture/weather). You can view the weather for your area of interest on the [Bountiful platform](http://app.bountiful.ag/). You can expect continued warming temperatures over the next few days will help get more bee flight hours on the board for 2023 while progressing full-bloom in orchards to its final stages of petal fall.   The 2023 bloom has been long, first green tip observations were submitted to Bountiful Bloom on Feb 1, 2023, marking 41 days so far for the 2023 bloom.   2022 bloom first green tip observations were submitted on January 30th, 2022 bloom ended on March 9, 2022.   ![Screenshot 2023-03-13 at 12.57.01 PM](https://blog.bountiful.ag/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202023-03-13%20at%2012.57.01%20PM.png?width=2880&height=1560&name=Screenshot%202023-03-13%20at%2012.57.01%20PM.png)   [![Bountiful Bloom Button](https://blog.bountiful.ag/hs-fs/hubfs/Screen%20Shot%202023-02-17%20at%204.14.46%20PM.png?width=491&height=71&name=Screen%20Shot%202023-02-17%20at%204.14.46%20PM.png)](https://bountifulalmonds.com/)   2023 cumulative bee flight hours are 92-129 hours less this year when compared to 2022\* bee flight hours, and cumulative chill portions for 2023 continue to be up over 2022\*, by 17-23 chill portions. *\*Please note Bountiful only measures bee flight during bloom.
