August's position report marks the start of the 2023/2024 marketing year. Crop receipts to date: 70,130,877 lbs down -73.46% over last year.

August's total shipments: 212,012,536 lbs down -7.14% over August last year.
⚖️ Carry-Out
Final 2022 Carry-Out is 800,292,337 lbs up +1.06%, from the estimated Carry-Out per July 2023 position report
- 23.78% Carry-Out as a % of Total Marketable Supply (TMS) and
- 31.21% Carry-Out as a % of Total Shipments.
*Note, ABC finalized Loss & Exempt for 2022, actual L&E of 1.67% versus the 2% forecasted L&E figure resulting in a positive adjustment of 8,397,579 pounds on Carry-Out.
📊 Total Marketable Supply
August New Crop and Carry-In from 2022 bring the 2023 beginning Total Marketable Supply to 869,020,596 lbs, down -20.69% over last year.

Following the December position report we run a forward projection on ABC form 1 crop receipts every month to get an idea of the total size of the crop.
The methodology we use for our crop receipt projections differs from our in-season machine learning forecasts. Our 2023 in-season forecasts are complete and have not been updated since we released a final forecast in July.
