March 10, 2025 Bloom Update 🌸

Welcome to your fourth and likely last weekly Bountiful Bloom Update for the 2025 growing season. If you missed last week's March 3, 2025, Bountiful Bloom update, you can read it here

Let's dive in!

🌸 Bloom Update

March 4 - March 10, 2025

Most trees are leafed out and done with bloom, with some stragglers in petal fall, mostly later-blooming varieties like Butte, Padre. Nutlets are forming and are growing more visible each day. Conditions this past week were generally good across the valley, with the exception of a rain event on March 5th (more on this later in the weather portion of this week's update in the Precipitation section).

For this week, weather forecasts are calling for rain and wind in the middle to the latter half of this week. We will see how the little nutlets fare.

Consistent daily bloom observations have come from the Central region of the state followed by the South, then the North. You can see this below for the 2025 Almond Bloom, showing the progression of bloom stages reported by dayπŸ‘‡.

Bloom submissions received at Bountiful Bloom show all regions are at nearly the same stage, petal fall.

πŸ“£ If you're in the South or North regions, we'd love your support with bloom observations to increase coverage in these areas.

🌑️🌧️ Weather

A look at current temperature and precipitation trends

🌑️ Temperature

Temperature averages this year across the state continue to be about the same as this time last year. However, the extremes continue to be more pronounced, with higher maximum temperatures and lower minimum temperatures. This trend of higher maximum and lower minimum temperatures holds across all counties and regions in California.

Below πŸ‘‡, you'll see Temperatures for 2/1-3/9 for 2025 compared to 2024 for Kern County.

🌧️ Precipitation

In portions of the Central and most of South, about a half inch of rain was reported on March 5th; this is in addition to the rain that was seen last week on March 3rd.

Below πŸ‘‡, you'll see Precipitation for 2/1-3/9 for 2025 compared to 2024 for Kern County.
